Promise Announces VTrak E-Class Certification for VMware vSphere

Promise Enables VTrak E-Class to Support the Industry’s First Cloud Operating System, VMware vSphereTM

Milpitas, CA, May 27, 2009 – Promise Technology, a leading supplier of sophisticated RAID storage solutions for enterprise and SMB customers, today announced that the VTrak E-Class Fibre Channel RAID subsystem has been successfully certified with VMware vSphereTM and listed on the VMware Hardware Compatibility List (HCL). VMware vSphereTM, the world’s first cloud OS, enables the next generation of flexible, reliable IT services with cost effective cloud computing features. VMware vSphereTM achieved general availability on May 20, 2009.

Already supporting large data center deployments of 30+ petabytes, by adding VMware vSphereTM certification, Promise further extends the value of the VTrak E-Class in next generation data centers by dramatically reducing operating costs and efficiency through vSphereTM server and storage consolidation.

The VTrak E-Class is VMware ReadyTM Certified, meaning that the subsystem has completed the testing criteria of the VMware Storage Hardware Certification Program and is now listed on the VMware HCL. Having completed the rigorous testing guidelines of the VMware ReadyTM Certified program, VTrak subsystems are ready for deployment in VMware vSphereTM infrastructures.

"Our fully VMware ReadyTM certified VTrak RAID subsystems will enable our customers to build flexible, reliable and scalable environments with products from the world's leading virtualization company, VMware," said Chi-Chen Wu, Senior Vice President at Promise. "Promise is committed to technologies that enhance our users ability to manage their IT storage as well as improve overall operating efficiency; VTrak and VMware are a great fit."
